John P. Stephens Cultural Arts Center
The John P. Stephens Cultural Arts Center was built as the second phase of construction on the "new" high school in 2006. It is a 430 seat auditorium with full lights and sound for productions. The CAC serves as daily rehearsal space for the choral music and guitar programs. The Raceland Concert Band and Jazz Band also use the space for all performances. Raceland High School has a Drama Club that uses the space. The JPS/CAC is the host venue for the yearly production of the holiday favorite "Nutcracker" Ballet by the River Cities Dance Company from Tammy Jo's Studio.
Many local organiziations have rented the CAC for performance and group meeting events. All rental proceeds are used for Raceland students in grades PreK-12 to have arts-based experiences in the CAC.
The mission of the John P. Stephens Cultural Arts Center is to bring live musical and theatrical performances, as well as exhibitions of visual art to our students and community that will promote an expanded awareness of the world of art from a variety of genres, styles, and origins.
